Wtf are these? Vintage Dakko-Chan!

I so thought smother gave these away but they were hiding from her. We've always called them Martians and last I remember seeing them they lived in the kitchen window with other knick knacks. I would love to know what they really are. They're hollow soft plastic with lenticular winking eyes, says made in Hong Kong on their back.

My apologies to anyone who finds these insensitive, let's not get in to that, let's try and figure out where they come from a doll collecting POV.

I remember those from when I was a kid. They are some kind of little african/cannibal doll. I haven't had any luck pulling up images with those terms though. But they are like Inky from the cartoons.

You know, I was watching the "remake" of DBZ on TV the other week, and for some reason, Mr. Popo has turned bright, electric blue. O_o;

I'm like ... wasn't he black before? Thought maybe I was going nuts. Nice to realize it's the politically correct censors at work as opposed to me (further) losing my mind. ^^;

I remember these. They're called "Winky Dolls" and they were thin flimsy blow-up black vinyl. The earrings were VERY lightweight metal, lighterthan aluminum and the beads light plastic, the skirt thin vilyl as well. The eyes are a Fresnel-lens thing that shfits from open to closed images. The ones I got were from a fair. They were clinging to a "Winky pole" and you threw beanbags to dislodge them. Since they would spin around (they were so light) and most people threw the beanbags hard, they were difficult to win... I hit on the technique to throw the beanbag high, letting it arc downward to hit between the doll's head and the pole from above, knocking Winky off its perch. I got three or four before the attraction "closed" because the guy had to go get lunch. Heh!
