the Potato Face Brigade, as i've always liked to refer to this Anime figure line as.

they're something of an early proto-Figma line, and they did make one of my Waifu "Mikuru Asahina" so there's that, at least...

I remember when those were really big in the doll circles. ...Were they called Pinnypon? Or am I thinking of something else?

Oh wow! I used to love Pinky: St!

I remember seeing a custom Tsukimori Len on Yahoo auctions Japan once and thinking he was real! I read on to find out he was a custom OOAK, so I went about and made my own, too! Along with a matching Kahoko Hino. :) (From La Corda d'Oro) I think I made them in 2008.... oh my goodness.....that was....10 years ago?!?!? Can't be! ACK!

I also bought a few more figures to customize into Corda figures for my sister but never quite got around to them yet......
Maybe someday..... ;)

 Yes, "potato face" is an apt description for this particular Pinky Street series.
The The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya characters were released toward the end of the Pinky Street run, and they featured ball-jointed heads. While providing, in theory, greater poseability, the ball joints necessitated wider faces, hence the "potato face" appearance.
