Lighter skin tone?

'Ello 'Ello!

So, I know it's not that hard to change your doll's skin tone to something darker with a good spray paint job, but how about lighter? I have a couple guys who are the standard Action Figure Man tan... but they need to be a lovely shade of cream. Would a primer coat (which is usually grey...) and then, what, an airbrushing?, in the desired color work? Or some other method? Best comparison in shades I can get it going from GI Joe tan to Volks/Obitsu normal.

I have asked this question before about lighting up skin tone. What everybody has told me was to airbrushing after priming.

Thanks :) I figured that was probably the answer, but I have this weird issue where I have to hear (read?) someone else say it before I'll listen. lol

Looks like I need to acquire myself a cheap, decent airbrusher.

A word about airbrushes. You can have a cheap one, or you can have a good one. If you get a cheap one, you will spend 95% of your time cleaning, adjusting, prepping it and dealing with the mistakes it makes. If you get a good one, you will only be spending 50% of your time cleaning, adjusting, and prepping it.

Oh. Well that's not good. :( And I doubt I have the funds for a really good one, especially since this will be such a small project and then I'll quite possibly never use it again. Hmm... may have to think of some other method.... ~puts on thinking cap~

White Power Team Elite guys are kind of close to Obitsu Normal, at least to the regular O 27 guy.

Cheap me would try a coat of Testors or some other toothy base spray, a good rub of powdered pastels, and a sealant. Or white dye, something like RIT. Thinking about all the stuff you don't want to do to a doll that would stain it. The Reborn babies have their colors sponged on to them.

I can't tell, are the "normal" Obitsu males darker than the slim males in fleshtone, or are they the same shade?

I may try that Rit bath, see if that works. :) I have an extra body of the same type, just to test things on.

The reg. Obitsu guys are a little bit darker than the Obitsu slim males in fleshtone. The doll on the top left is a slim and the guy standing next to him is a reg. Obitsu doll. I hope this helps.

Not too far off, I see. Thanks, that did help. ^_^

What's the guy in the lower right corner, in the grey?

The guy in grey is a Volks Neo Guy, male doll, so is the red hair guy sitting next to him.
The doll right behind him standing in the blue is a Volks Neo Go. reg., male doll, normal skin
tone.
