Kips?

Postby Kirahfaye » Sun Mar 21, 2010 10:12 am

I had a couple of people on DoA suggest using Kips instead of sueding. Has anyone here given them a try yet?

I had mixed results. They worked great in some joints, but they got sucked into the limbs and head in others.

I just got the new elastic and kips from Copycat today. Now . . . . if I could only figure out what safe place I put Lorilei's S hooks . . . .

I really did not care for KIPS since they kept being sucked up in to the join holes and I didnt really see any difference then when I used hot glue for sueding or actual sueding...

Chayanne from DOA restrung my Mei and kipped her. She has kipped a few of her SDs and is a fan, but as we found out, they don't necessarily work with smaller dolls. We couldn't kip the knees, ankles, elbows or wrists because the kips stuck out (she had the same problem with her YO-SD). Still, what we did kip worked nicely. It even helped get her re-homed literally minutes later.

for those smaller joints you can try the dr scholls moleskin plus padding. it can be found in the foot care sction. next to bunion relief. lol. it is a sheet and you just cut it to shape and peel and stick!
