Fake ears on a 1/6 doll?

Postby DollyKim » Mon Jul 05, 2010 9:07 pm

Any idea how to make fake ears to put on a 1/6 doll with a squishy head that won't mess him up? I don't quite see LaDoll holding up, if I use Apoxie Sculpt I'd need to put plastic wrap on his head or something to make them but then I have no idea how to keep them on. He has lots of black hair so I could hide something in that. Any ideas?

This is what I'm aiming for on a Volks Neo Goh. I think I'll paint the details. They run along the jaw line and the tops stand out a bit from the head but can go in to the hair.

If it was just the ear top, you could wire them to the hair, but that bottom part is the problem. What if you made them of apoxie sculpt-with the plastic wrap protecting and used tacky glue to put them on? It loosens with water if you want to take them off later.

Epoxie won't bond with the vinyl, and LaDoll won't stay in place forever.
What I usually do is: sculpt the ears with whatever; let them dry/cure; pull them off; paint them; super-glue them on.

Thinking... Wiring in to the hair could work. Maybe some kind of hood.

I'm afraid to glue anything to him because he's one of my super special guys, been with me 5 years going on forever, I don't want to risk anything staining him.

Try sticky tack. It's easy to remove and doesn't stain.

I also suggest useing a 2 part epoxie, but think that green stuff will work better because it stays just a tiny bit flexible so it works better for vinyl applications. use tacky glue or even elmers white for a temporary attachment. it works for eyelashes without staining.
