Little Pullip Obitsu hybrid tutorial.

Postby Nko » Sat Jan 14, 2012 10:20 am

As many people keep on asking me how did I manage to make my little pullip/Obitsu hybrids and as I recently found some pictures I took while making mine I decided to try making a tutorial. Some pictures aren't great as I manily took them as reference for myself but I hope they can help!
I also want to say making such an hybrid was not my original idea but a Nekoi Sweetalice's (flickr name) one. Or at least she's it's from her hybrid I took inspiration. ^^

1) This is a picture that shows the "material" as I bought it:
- a 25 cm Obitsu body (but you can also use other 1/6 bodies depending on what proportions you'd like best.)
- a little Pullip
- a 4,5 cm wig (but you can also keep the little Pullip's original wig if you like it)

2) Just to show better the Little Pullip body and the Obitsu one.

3) First thing you need to do is to remove the doll's wig to open the head. This is the harderst part. The wig is mainly glued on the edge (you can see the circular mark left by the glue around the doll's bald head) but it has also glue spots in the middle. I used a pointed knive (please be careful!) to start detaching it from an edge then I used it as a pry (you can also use a flat screwdriver to do this) going around the edge to remove the other part of the wig. Be careful not to hurt yourself nor to scratch the doll's face in some way. The try to lift the edges to remove the center glues spots.
My intention was to remove the wig completely to use another one but I think if you want to keep it you probably can avoid detaching it from the front part.

The head is divided in two "hemispheres" that are kept toghether by the screw inside the green-circuled hole. To unscrew it you'd need a star screwdriver.

4) This is the opened head. Now we have to unscrew the two green-circled screws to remove the neck hold piece (marked with a pink X). Once opened you can remove the body. The pullip neck holder is made of two halfs that look almost the same (you can see one in the pink framed picture), to let the 25cm obitsu body neck in you need to re screw the front half, with the hollow part in front of you. But not the back half (the one you see in this picture marked with an X). You put the Obitsu neck in and close the head. When the head is closed one of the Pullip neck holder piece is left outside and you don't need it any more.
It's not necessary to remove or change the obitsu neck holder if you have the small one on your body (see second picture of the tutorial).

Take care this neckpart thing is referred to a 25 cm body, for other bodies it may be necessary to keep or remove both neck parts. (if you have experience of it he/she please let me know so I can improve this tutorial, or give me the link to your tutorial.) ^^
Unfortunately I didn't took other picture of the opened neck holder but you can fin one by Nekoi Sweetalice here: http://124.146.201.38/Blah/Blah.cgi?m-1242782744/

In case your opened head looks different from the picture (it's like that in older Little Pullips) you can find a tutorial about attaching the obitsu body on parabox site: http://parabox.jp/eng/custom/puri2.html

You can also change the eyes if you want (remove the screw on the white part). Here there's a video that shows different eyes size on a Little Pullip head: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJotx0ZMry8

5) This is the nude/bald doll.
Take care the neck is not too short or long before closing the head, anyhow if the head is strongly pulled it comes out even once closed (and can be put again at it's place without opening the head again) though it won't come off by itself, even if the doll is put upside down. It can also be turned slightly to one side or another but not tilted (inclined) to one side as the Little Pullip could do because of her round neck joint.

6) And here is a sample of a complete hybrid doll!

If you already made a Pullip Obitsu hybrid and you know other tips (expecially for other Obitsu bodies) please tell them so we can improve the tutorial! ^^

Wait wait wait wait WAIT.
Is that Little Pullip wearing a Gundam Seed ZAFT uniform? Is it a custom outfit or did Groove get a Gundam license? Or am I just going crazy?
