Actually, the first 'real' go-gos were only barely mid-calf high and had a low or no heel. Later 60's and early 70's saw the taller version and a variety of heels. Rudi Gernreich was one of the first designers to show them with his fashions.

And yes, these are exactly what my first pair looked like LOL!
But thanks for all the research. I might be able to cut a taller pair down.
