More 80's than Victorian Blue Velvet Dress

So, Dahlia asked for a dress, just to keep the fame as the most spoiled doll in the household, and I gathered some blue velvet and started to work.

Working with velvet, especially quite old one like this from my grandma's stash, is a nightmare. Lint everywhere and some sections of the bodice ended being asymettrical because of frayed fabric, even if finally this time I leaved a seam allowance that deserved to be called in this way (and so I could sew them open on the inside)
It's all handsewn because I still don't trust my sewing machine with fraying fabrics.

I think I've learned a lot, even it was one the most frustrating dresses I ever made. And Dahlia seems satisfied.

It looks good on her.

I hate working with velvet!

It came out very well!

And maybe get out the fray-check next time. It makes it a bit stuff, but at least the fraying is cut down.

You hand-sewed that!? Great job!
