kenaiqueen's sewing skillz

They're too sexy for their clothing - but they have to wear them anyway! Did you buy it? Did you make it? Who cares - let'm strut their stuff here!

Finally finished the dress I was working on for a Disney store 17" singing Belle doll. I got her off eBay and she was a mess! Had to chop the mats out of her hair and smoothed it out as best as I could. Then I gave her a boil perm to put some curl back in. I originally wanted to get a LE Winter Belle, but she costs so much, it was impossible to even think about getting one. (They still sell in the $800-$900 range.) I started on the dress before we moved to this house, so it's been over a year since I last touched it. I used a 'Designs by Jude' pattern called Enchanted and modified the neckline and the sleeves. The fabric was a bit stiffer than I intended, but it worked out well to give her skirts that extra poof. I tried making her cloak, but it requires a fabric with more drape, so I'm setting her up in the doll room as is for now. Someday (year) I'll finish her to my expectations, but til then, I'm pretty happy with this.

I am Tam. Tam I am. I like green eggs, but I don't like ham. :D

I tried linking one of my adopted click pets here, but the board wouldn't let me. :/

I disagree. I think like buttons make for less conversation.

Proof positive that some days my sewing skills are less than others. I used the free patterns at Smart Doll for these and while they were okay, they aren't great. I will blame some of the problems with them on the fabric not being stable enough, but I still have to take the blame as I was the one who chose them. I used an old baby onesie for the top and an old tank top/camisole for the shorts. Not my best work. Sigh. The top probably would have looked better had I not decided to crop it off, but Penny is that kind of girl. Have some other project for now but I'll try again with some different knits.

I decided to work on some doll stuff for sale and made up two Summer Parkas for 18" dolls. The pattern is my own but based off a commercial Kuspuk pattern I bought. The Kuspuks are hard to put on so I decided to try this style which is very easy for a younger child to work with. I have made and sold both kinds in the past but not for a few years now. I think I will make some over the next few months with an eye to offering them closer to the holidays.
