My doll room is filling up!

Postby kenaiqueen » Mon Jan 03, 2022 11:40 pm

We are finally at the point where we need to get moved into the new house. I've got most of the dolls moved over and am getting into the crafts/sewing/books now. We need to be out in about 2 weeks so at some point I'll disappear for a few days til we get the internet switched over. The room is still chaos and needs organizing badly, but that I can do later. Please note that most of the dolls were there a couple of weeks ago when we got hit with a 5 point quake and not a single one moved. I do plan to run some clear threads along the shelves to help hold things in place, but truth is, if we have a quake big enough to move things around, then I've got more to worry about than my dolls. Almost all my collection is vinyl and that bounces better than resin. I will be getting them insured as soon as I can get an inventory together. Pics should be in order, moving from left when you enter the room. The spot where all the boxes are piled now will probably be where they run the baseboard heating, hopefully in a month or so. Meantime, with the door to the furnace room open it's plenty warm enough. I hate moving, but with some luck, this will be the last time.

Thanks for all the kind comments. It's been pretty stressful and will continue to be so for a while I'm afraid. Besides the fact we are too old for all this, the DH has been ill quite a bit lately and he is not allowed to pick up anything that is over 20lbs. anyway. All our friends are our age and can't really help us either. It's going to be slow move.

I think the measurments were a bit off, but I can work with it. It was custom built by the husband of a friend. He's a wonderful carpenter. Sadly, I under-estimated how much shelf space I'd need.

I think that my 'elf shelf' that you are looking at. They are all the Schleich fantasy line. They are too pretty to resist and they often go on sale in a local store with a bogo half off.

I have a doll pile of storage tubs and the house will get set up eventually in this place. I've had to share a room with my dolls because of the fur babies.

When I get a place that can do shelves I want ones at plate rail level for dolls. One place we looked at had recesses along the top of the wall that was perfect for dolls or cats.
