Book character dolls?

Postby Alopecia No Hime » Sat Nov 20, 2010 11:12 pm

Has anyone tried making character dolls out of what they think their favorite book characters look like?

This applies to any book series. For me maybe after Haruka I'll make Zoey Redbird from the House Of Night series.

I have SD versions of most of the main characters in Secret World Chronicles. Belladonna Blue, Seraphym, Victoria Victrix, Red Saviour, Red Djinni, John Murdock and I have Bulwark and Scope planned.

Then again I get to count them as publicity, and Larry gets to count them as models for tax purposes.

^^ I've done Mr. Darcy, Lizzie, Mr. Bingley and Jane from 'Pride & Prejudice'; Rose & Mac Campbel from 'Rose in Bloom' that I can think of off the top of my head, in 1/6 scale.

Haven't done it yet, but I really want to make Ariel from Lisa Mantchev's Theatre Illuminata series. He's an awesome character.

Well, I didn't really try...it just sort of happened.

When I bought my MNF Woosoo I decided that I'd give him a costume, dress him up like a character from The Name of the Wind, Bast.

Then he got here, I got him dressed and wigged and he informed me that he wasn't cosplaying Bast, he was Bast. Now go back online and find me more accurate eyes... XD I'm still in the market for another character from the book, Kvothe, but I haven't found the right sculpt yet.

I had tried with another doll, my Sprite who is named Ariel after the character from Shakespeare, but he didn't quite turn out right.
Ryo - DIM Real (NS)
Ariel - BBB Sprite (Blue)
Peaseblossom - BBB Ariel (Lilac)
Bast - Fairyland MNF Woosoo Vamp (WS)
Bernadette - Hujoo Berry (Apricot)
Mustardseed - Realpuki Tyni (NS)
Dove - BBB Pixie (Chocolate)
Loki - Hujoo Jake
Monster High Toralei
Monster High Clawd Wolf
Perneth - RS Pixiu (Sky Blue)

Well if manga counts, I've done Etna from Disgaea and Diana from Bizenghast for my daughter's dolls. It's fun, but my personal dolls all want to be themselves all the time.

If we wildly stretch the definition to include webcomics (I do own graphic novel copies of the series), I've got Vaarsavius, based off the character of the same name from Order of the Stick. Which required some creative interpretation of it's own, seeing as the original character is a highly detailed stick figure.
