Resin used on reptiles?

I was watching NatGiographic's WILD channel when I came across Your Dog Ate What!? Featureing animals who swallowed strange things. One in which a surgery being performed on a tortiese. After removing screws and rocks from said reptile the vet closed the shell using resin.

Incredible no? The animal had a scar the same size and shape as the resin square used.

I'm sure it's likely a different kind of resin then the kind used on dolls but it is interesting.
