Hi,

My name is Laura J Underwood. I am an author, a librarian, an artist, a former fencing champion, and I LOVE DOLLS!!!

I started in the hobby of bjds a couple of years ago. I have been collecting Liv dolls, Monster High Dolls, Ever After High Dolls as well as Hujoos, Delilah Noirs, Bobobies, ResinSouls, SoulDolls, Doll Love, Doll Leaves, Island Dolls, Goodreaus and many more.

I like to dress and design dolls that look like the characters in my published works. Though sometimes, I just dress dolls for the fun of dressing them, since I like to sew as well as do faceups.

Thank you for letting me join.

Well, gathering from your introduction up top, you don't need help being pushed into the BJD fray, you jumped in free-fall! Welcome back!

I blame a couple of friends, but in truth, I spotted bjds a long time ago, and swore some day I would own one. Started by ordering a Doll Leaves Maya, but had to wait on him, so I convinced myself the Goodreau Edge on sale at Denver Doll was a good buy, and have owned him ever since. He was followed by a Hujoo, a Bobobie tiny, and the ball just kept rolling from there. I have a LOT of dolls...probably more than one person should own, but in my mind, they are like potato chips...no one can have just one. ;-)

I like playing DollyStein (or FrankenDolly), and have paired a number of odd ducks together successfully. I have even taken a Delilah Noir apart and restrung her (albeit I do not recommend this if you are faint of heart when it comes to handling sharp objects around your dolls).

If anything, I probably need more help NOT buying so many dolls. ;-)

Once I get a doll, I am unable to part with it. I have a nephew in law who thinks I am creepy. I have a friend who thinks I have jointed the "creepy doll people." Other than a few close encounters with a couple of flakes, I have yet to meet any "creepy doll people."

I have met a lot of fun people who enjoy dolls as much as I do.

Do any of these friends or relatives play "fantasy" sports? Now that's creepy.

Actually, the nephew in law says it creeps him out when I take pictures of the dolls by my bed, because he thinks they are going to eat me in the night.

Seriously, Dude. Read one too many horror novels, IMHO.

And I will admit when I was a kid (and even into my teens) I was creeped out by the antique doll my great aunt owned. Her name was Joetta, and she was one of the celluloid/plaster dolls (she is over 100 years old), and when I was young, I did not like seeing her in the room where I played.

Now, of course, poor Joetta is in my mother's room. My mother worries that no one will love her. I assure her Joetta will be well cared for. Though I think she needs a trip to a doll hospital to get a few things fixed. Her face is kinda flaking.
