He could've found that out pretty much anywhere on the web ... seriously, I think if he knew all that much he'd have wiped their faceups at least to make them less recognizable. But even if he didn't steal them himself he might be able to point the cops in the right direction, he must have gotten them somewhere ... I so hope they catch the thief, and Wildwoodflower gets her dolls back soon!

That's true...

It's just that, in my area, people who steal things out of cars are looking for a profit. People who want a profit don't hold onto the stolen object for long. They tend to get it out of their own hands and into someone else' hands within a matter of days. (if not hours)
I think it's a bit more probable that whoever did steal them quickly turned them over to a pawn shop or some other second hand seller and they eventually made their way to this guy.

Either way, it's great that some of them have been found!

I tend to think he didn't likely know because from what I can tell they're still dressed and faced up like she had them. If he was that knowledgeable of BJD's I would think he would have redressed them and/or sold them naked after wiping them. If he had who would have even known? The fact that he did not suggests that he bought them off of someone and likely did not know. No one who knew BJD's and knew about DOA would likely just post them "as is" like that knowing they could be easily ID'd and probably would be given there are thousands of DOA people out there who might see them. It's just not logical that he's the person who stole him. Nobody is *that* dumb. It just makes sense that the real thief dumped them on him, sold them to him maybe and he had no clue they were stolen dolls. He'd have to be pretty darned stupid to just put them up just like she had them otherwise. It just doesn't make much sense that he would really. I do hope they get back to their original owner and that they are okay when they do. I can't even imagine losing one of my dolls. It would just break my heart.

It's all speculation a this point.
He could be selling them for someone else who told him exactly what to put in the description.

What ever the case. DO NOT GET INVOLVED. LET THE AUTHORITIES DO THEIR JOB.

I don't think he stole them. If he did, he hung onto them for a long time.
I also don't think he knows about BJDs, but someone he knows helped him with them. Someone pointed him to where to find out what they are, or knew what they were and told him. A normal person wouldn't have written that detailed of a description of them. However, anyone actually involved in the BJD world would know to wipe the face-up, esp. ones that are as unique as these. The average person would have no idea these were custom face-ups done by the owner, nor that the clothing was made by the owner as well as the wigs.
I just hope she gets her dolls back. I haven't heard any more from her.

Unfortunately, she was moving from Ukiah, CA, to New Orleans. After driving all day long, she stopped to spend the night with a friend in Los Angeles. Everything she owned was packed into her car- which is why she didn't bring the dolls in. During the night someone broke a window and stole everything. The dolls were packed in a suitcase and whoever did it just grabbed as much stuff as they could. So they didn't specifically steal the dolls- they stole everything they could get their hands on.

I hope that justice is served and she gets back her rightful property. I hope the real thief is found and punished accordingly.

cirquemom wrote:You may remember when Wildwoodflowers beautiful and very unique and original BJDs were stolen from her car when she stopped in LA for the night on her way to her new home in New Orleans. After at least a year (maybe two??), these dolls have now shown up on ebay.
She filed a report with the LAPD, so there is an official paperwork trail, and she certainly has hundreds of witnesses who recognize her doll and remember when they were stolen, certainly will be able to identify them.

ANYWAY- please take a look, and DO NOT BUY THESE STOLEN DOLLS!

If you use ebay, you can report these dolls as stolen. Scroll down until you see the "report this item" tag and click it.
